Overview

名将美食馆 • Ming Jiong Restaurant is a welcoming wok-style eatery nestled in the heart of Bandar Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur. Known for its authentic Hainanese flavors, this restaurant offers a comforting blend of traditional dishes executed with consistency and care. The moment you step in, the warmth of the elderly owner’s service sets the tone—courteous, patient, and attentive—reflecting a genuine passion for hospitality rarely seen in casual dining spots.

The main draws here are the expertly roasted meats—especially the roast duck, which many patrons regard as among the best in Kuala Lumpur. Its tender, succulent texture showcases skillful roasting that avoids toughness, making it enjoyable even without sauces, although their homemade chili complements it well. Alongside that, the roast chicken drumsticks and char siew receive high marks for their balanced flavors and appealing textures, while the siew yoke offers a satisfying crunch, even if it divides opinions slightly on sweetness.

名将美食馆 also shines with its Hainanese staples like steamed chicken rice, a comforting dish where fragrant rice and tender chicken harmonize beautifully with rich sauces. The restaurant’s versatility extends beyond the typical fare, including pastas, sandwiches, and chops that cater to varied palates, making it a great spot for families or groups with diverse tastes.

The space itself is unpretentious, emphasizing hearty food and sincere customer connection rather than flashy decor. It feels like a local treasure, ideal for those seeking authentic regional flavors without the fuss. For those looking to refresh themselves, the fresh fruit juices—watermelon and orange—are vibrant and hydrating, perfectly balancing the richness of the main dishes.

Targeting both longtime fans of classic Hainanese fares and newcomers eager to explore them, Ming Jiong blends tradition with a welcoming atmosphere. Whether it’s a family breakfast, casual lunch, or a relaxed dinner, the restaurant delivers consistency, quality, and a taste of home, making it a memorable culinary landmark in Kuala Lumpur’s bustling food scene.

Non-halal. Very nice siu lap (roast duck, chicken, char siu and siu yuk ) restaurant with lots of hainanese fare like pastas, sandwiches and chops. Lots of choices catering for all ages. The bossman, an elderly gentleman who takes orders from customers is an fine example of how a service industry should be.. courteous, patient, informative, and polite.. and this is just a "chicken rice restaurant!".. Will definitely frequent this place.

Stumbled upon this place by chance . What a pleasant find Tried 1 roast duck- duck was not tough. Tasted good on its own without the sauce . Their homemade chili sauce was good 2 Roast pork - The skin was crunchy . Not bad 3 Braised pork with sour mustard. - very yummy and it had the correct balance of sourness, spiciness and a hint of sweetness 4 The owner of the shop was very polite

A warmth service by the uncle. Good 1st impression. Polo bun - aromatic dough! High quality butter. Just that the top is not crispy enough. But taste darn good. Hainan tea - VERY GOOD and Kaw Wantan noodle - Springy , sauce is balanced. Texture is not common of outside kopitiam. Char siew, a bit too sweet. But soft and not dry. Rice - Aromatic and cooked just right Siew yoke - Nice! Duck - so-so , very hard to compete the quality of kepong baru ducks.
